Epping Forest represents one of the most beautiful, ancient woodland regions of the UK. It has been designated as both a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation. These markers of prestige denote the forest’s status as a protected area of global significance. The forest is composed of more than fifty areas of woodland, grassland and other habitats, and remains a rural monument of the area’s rich cultural history.

The forest is committed to providing access for everyone. There are several centres and open woodland expanses that are accessible for everyone, including the elderly, people with disabilities and families with young children. The various trails contained within the forest’s vast rural topographies will also appeal to enthusiastic walkers and cyclists seeking a more active scenic retreat.
